Design and Engineering

J. McLauchlin and Company maintains relationships with professional design firms specifically selected for their specialty expertise. Depending on the project type, a design team is selected to work as part of the “TEAM” to develop a specific project to fulfill a specific need.

Design is a process, starting with a written program to define the project. The design team starts with rough sketches of the floor plans to transform the written program into a graphic solution, revising and refining the conceptual designs to meet the owner’s needs. Design does not take place in a vacuum. As a team, the designers work with the owners and contractors to achieve the best results.

Architects, engineers and contractors work together to coordinate design elements and to ensure the design not only accommodates the owner’s needs and goals, but also meets budget requirements. The industry is full of examples of architects and engineers designing great facilities that do not meet the owner’s budgets. By working as a team, sharing design and cost issues, our client’s needs can be met without sacrificing design or construction quality. Our goal,  is to deliver the project when we said we would, at the cost we said it would be, to the owner’s complete satisfaction. Design and Engineering is an integral part of the design-build team.
